Cape Verde Weather
Cape Verde in general has a tropical and dry climate. The average temperature throughout the year lies at about 77F or 25°C, thanks to the Atlantic Ocean. Water temperatures range from the low of 70F or 21°C in February and March up to the high of 77F or 25° in September and October.
The islands are situated in an area where winds from the north east dominate and raise intensity until the month of July. As a consequence, Cape Verde provides a milder climate than neighbouring countries that are located on the same latitude.
The major problem of the archipelago is the poor rainfall. Even though the rainy season begins during August and lasts until October, rainfall is unpredictable from island to island and also from year to year which causes a lack of fresh water. However most of the year you will be able to enjoy the sunshine and the hot summery temperatures. In January and February the east wind that is blowing from the Sahara makes sure that temperatures stay over the 68F or 20°C mark.
