Fogo Property
 The highest peak of the island of Fogo is about 3.000 metres. Fogo is a volcanic island on which beautiful nature can be found, especially in the north. The southern part of the island provides more arid spots. The capital Sao Filipe is built on a cliff and features typical architecture from the colonial times. Due to the volcanic nature of the island, beaches provide black sand. A beautiful place to sunbathe is the natural pool at Salina de Sao Jorge. One of the points of interest that can be found on Fogo is the village of Chas das Caldeiras which is about three hours from the city of Sao Filipe. The village is situated inside the crater of the volcano, which makes it worth a visit. Should you decide to visit the village you could arrange to stay either with a family at the base or alternatively at the Pousada Pedra Brabu which can be found near Chas das Caldeiras. Sports enthusiasts can hire a guide which will lead you up the volcano. The ascent takes about five hours, the descent about two so be sure that you are feeling fit enough to give it a go. Additional there is also the possibility to ride to the volcano on a horse (riding equipment is available to rent). |
