Santo Antao Property
Santo Antao is divided into two by an impressive mountain range which has an altitude of over 1.500 metres. Many people think that the landscapes here are the most spectacular ones of all the Cape Verdian islands. A trip with the ferry from Sao Vicente to the Porto novo takes approximately one hour. Once on the island you can visit the towns of Ribeira Grande which serves as a base for many leisure travellers and Ponto do Sol which is Santo Antao's administrative capital. Like in many other cities and towns on Cape Verde, Ponto do Sol provides a magnificent architecture which reflects the colonial times. The airport is located nearby and can be accessed easily from here. The island is a popular destination for those who like to walk, due to the strangely diverse local sub climate. You will be able to find everything from the rugged coast to the lush forests in the centre of Santo Antao. In addition to the beautiful nature there are also several other attractions located here. One of them is a rock with inscriptions which are dating back to the fifteenth century. It is situated in Janela. After an exciting day on the island one can try the famous local rum, grogue. But be careful, it has quite a kick and is nothing for weaklings! |
